Risk Information Inc. was formed in 1993 to provide strategic information to the property and casualty insurance industry. Auto Insurance Report, a weekly newsletter, commenced publishing that year, and Property Insurance Report, a bi-weekly, followed in 1994. We launched a speakers bureau in 1997, and in 1998 added our conference division, featuring the Auto Insurance Report National Conference each April, and the Property Insurance Report National Conference each November.
Our goal is to provide unique and invaluable analysis and insight into these markets. These two publications quickly became must-reading for a wide range of insurance market leaders. Insurance executives from the most active and innovative auto and home insurers large and small are among our subscribers, along with the many companies providing data and tools to the insurance industry. Also taking advantage of our newsletters are a wide-ranging group of reinsurers and reinsurance brokers regulators, Wall Street analysts and investors, insurance agents and brokers, trial lawyers, consumer advocates, members of the media, and more.
Recalling the challenge of understanding complex industries during his years as a daily newspaper reporter, Risk Information Editor and Conference Chairman Brian Sullivan has provided support to a wide range of reporters and editors in print, radio and television, and has been quoted widely in the media, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Fortune, and many more.
Conference Director Tracie Sullivan has developed a unique structure for Risk Information meetings, leading the Auto Insurance Report National Conference to sell out every single year since 1998, and consistent growth for the Property Insurance Report National Conference, which continues to set attendance records.
Our corporate and main editorial offices are located in Dana Point, California with additional news offices in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, Chicago and New York. Our subscription agency is located in Birmingham, Alabama. Our conference registration operation is based in Boulder, Colorado. The newsletters are printed and mailed from Carlstadt, New Jersey.
A few words about our logo: The north arrow in our logo comes from the north arrows William Clark drew on the many maps he made during the Lewis and Clark expedition. The explorers covered more than 8,000 miles of travel over a two year period, using little more than dead reckoning and a compass, and in making his maps Clark was off by only 40 miles. This astonishing accuracy in charting new territory has been an inspiration for what we try and do with our company.
Below is an example of one of Capt. Clark’s north arrows on a map drawn during the expedition:
